Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield Township, N.J., is hosting the 2016 PGA Championship July 25-31 and has utilized its comprehensive fleet of Toro turf care equipment and irrigation products to help prepare the course for the major event.
Mark Kuhns, director of grounds for Baltusrol Golf Club and a 40-year veteran of the golf course management industry, is ultimately responsible for course preparation at the PGA Championship. According to Kuhns, the process leading up to the tournament has been rewarding and he credits the pristine appearance of the golf club’s Lower Course to his staff of turf professionals, grounds crew, and the Toro equipment and irrigation that was used throughout the months leading up to the tournament.
“I have maintained several of the finest courses in the world during my career, and I owe much of my success to my relationship with the people at Toro,” Kuhns said. “We have worked with Toro and their local distributor, Storr Tractor Company, for years and trust the equipment will deliver the outstanding results the golf community has come to expect from a premiere golf club like Baltusrol.”
According to Kuhns, a major tournament like the PGA Championship requires additional course preparation, lots of planning and strict attention to detail. The Baltusrol grounds crew has been working long hours to ensure the course is ready for the world stage.
“With our partner Storr Tractor, we are very pleased to be part of the Baltusrol family and work hand-in-hand with Mark and his team,” said Michael J. Hoffman, chairman and CEO. “Mark has successfully hosted a number major championships over his career, and it’s an honor to play a role in the preparation for this event that will have all eyes from the global golf community on Baltusrol Golf Club.”
