Waikoloa, Hawaii – The 2005 Zagat Survey results have been published and the Beach and Kings’ Courses at Waikoloa Beach & Golf Resort have each been listed among “America’s Top Golf Courses.” Both courses received high ratings for layout, facilities, service and value, placing them in the top golf course tier of the survey. Results were based on an opinion survey of hundreds of thousands of golfers across the nation.

“Our sunny Kohala Coast setting and two championship golf course layouts make for truly unforgettable golf and keep us on the short list with all the avid golfers,” says Dave Pritchett, director of folf at Waikoloa Beach & Golf Resort. “We are honored that our resort continues to rank among the nation’s favorite golf destinations.”

The Zagat Survey, which was established in 1979, rates a variety of markets from shopping and movies to hotels and golf.

Of the Beach Course, Zagat Survey says “lava, lava and more lava makes for an exciting challenge at the Robert Trent Jones Jr. layout that is always in great shape for those Kodak moments along the shoreline.”

Beach Course
The Waikoloa Beach Course weaves its way through the lava beds down to the surf. Greens are well protected by dozens of strategically placed bunkers. Its signature 12th hole lies at the edge of the Pacific Ocean, offering an intimidating par-5 measuring 502 yards. The 6,566-yard course also features numerous water holes and 74 white sand bunkers.

Kings’ Course
The 7,064-yard, par 72 Scottish-links style Kings’ layout is a classic championship course. The design incorporates six major lakes, wide undulating fairways, 83 pot bunkers and a double green at holes 3 and 6. And with four tee positions, the Kings’ Course challenges golfers of all levels.

Two signature holes define the Kings’ Course. The 5th hole is a drivable par four. The 327-yard dogleg left features a huge bunker with lava rock formations, and a challenging sloping green. The 18th hole is a 501-yard par 5 with lava lining the left side of the fairway. This hole is appropriately named “Lanakila Ali’I” or Kings’ Victory.
