OB Sports Golf Management has been selected to manage Woods Valley Golf Club, a daily-fee club located in Valley Center, California, just north of San Diego. Since assuming operations, OB Sports has made, and continues to make, a number of significant enhancements to Woods Valley, including on-course cart paths and bridges repaired and elevated agronomic standards.
Designed by Dave Ginkel, Woods Valley Golf Club originally opened for play in 2004. The golf course measures 6,670 yards and plays to a par of 72 as it winds through native oak tree-lined fairways and rolling slopes that follow the natural contours of the countryside. The course’s unique topography provides stunning views of the surrounding hills and valleys.
In addition to on-course and facility improvements, Eric Julian is Woods Valley’s new general manager, John Gray is the club’s new head golf professional and David Vastola is the new golf course superintendent. Julian came to Woods Valley Golf Club from Monarch Beach Golf Links in Dana Point. A 16-year golf industry veteran, Julian is experienced in all aspects of golf course operations. Gray comes to Woods Valley from La Costa Resort in Carlsbad, while Vastola has worked at Monarch Beach Golf Links and Los Angeles Country Club.
“We’re thrilled with the progress we’ve made in improving Woods Valley in a few short months,” OB Sports COO Phil Green said. “Service levels have improved and course conditions are the best they’ve been in years. We’re excited about the future of this outstanding facility.”
Woods Valley Golf Club is centrally located from three destination casino hotels: Valley View Casino & Hotel, Harrah’s Resort Southern California and Pala Casino Spa & Resort. The club’s North San Diego location makes it an easy drive for San Diego, Orange and Riverside County residents.
Woods Valley is owned by the San Pasqual Economic Development Corporation (EDC), whose mission is to serve the economic development needs of the larger San Pasqual community by improving access to development resources and realizing new opportunities for expanding the tribe’s collective land base and jurisdiction.
“We’re very excited with the improvements and progress at Woods Valley Golf Club,” San Paqual EDC president and CEO Hellyaachwehay Quisquis said. “OB Sports Golf Management was the perfect choice to manage Woods Valley Gold Club for us, as a leader in the industry. They’ve already made some amazing enhancements and I know they will take Woods Valley Golf Club to the next level in golf as well as the experience.”
