Woodcreek receives Audubon certification

Woodcreek Golf Club in Roseville, Calif., achieved certification in Environmental Planning from the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary System.

Calabasas, Calif. – ValleyCrest Golf Course Maintenance announced that Woodcreek Golf Club in Roseville, Calif., has achieved certification in Environmental Planning from the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary System, an international program administrated by Audubon International. The plan was developed by Glynne Taylor of ValleyCrest Golf Course maintenance at Woodcreek Golf Club.

The Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for golf courses provides an advisory service to help existing golf courses develop effective conservation and wildlife enhancement programs. By joining and participating in the ACSS, Woodcreek Golf Club will be involved in projects that enhance habitat for wildlife and preserve natural resources for the benefit of the local community. These projects may include: placing nesting boxes for cavity-nesting birds such as bluebirds and swallows, utilizing integrated pest management techniques, conserving water, and maintaining food and cover for wildlife.

“The Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program is a great way for environmental organizations and managers of developed properties to work together to become better stewards of the land and natural resources,” says superintendent Glynne Taylor.

Currently ValleyCrest Golf Course Maintenance has enrolled more than 40 golf courses under their maintenance and ownership umbrella in the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program. Under this program, ValleyCrest Golf’s team of superintendents will work through the certification process striving toward operating within the best management practices of environmental planning, wildlife and habitat management, chemical use reduction and safety, water conservation, water quality management, and outreach and education.
