The Ohio Turfgrass Foundation (OTF) is holding its annual Scholarship and Research fundraising Golf Tournament Sept. 27 at Westbrook Country Club, Mansfield, Ohio.
The 2005 tournament, held at New Albany Country Club generated nearly $10,000 for the OTF Scholarship and Research fund.
"OTF was very appreciative of the New Albany Country Club and to their staff for contributing to the success of the tournament” says committee chair Mark Jordan. “We look forward having our event at a new and exciting venue.”
Next to the OTF conference and show, the Golf Tournament generates the most revenue for OTF. Lawn care companies, sod producers, athletic field managers, grounds managers and golf course superintendents and their staffs are encouraged to participate and support OTF's mission of funding turfgrass research and education.
"This is a great course that provides a truly enjoyable golf experience", says OTF executive director Kevin Thompson. “Plus it’s conveniently located about 1 hour from Columbus and Cleveland making it very accessible to many of our members".
Also contributing to the success of the tournament are the sponsors. “We would be remiss in not mentioning the fact that sponsors play a huge role in the success of the tournament” adds Jordan. Westbrook is a private club established in 1907 offering all the amenities of a truly private club. The Westbrook Country Club Golf Course was re-designed in 1922 by renowned architect Donald Ross. Its mature, traditional course features bentgrass greens and fairways. The course is playable by golfers of all ages and skill levels.
