Weibring-Wolfard Golf Design announces name change

The golf architects have renamed the firm to reflect their partnership.

Dallas-based D.A. Weibring/Golf Resources Group Inc. has changed its name to Weibring-Wolfard Golf Design, reflecting the long-standing collaboration between D.A. Weibring and Steve Wolfard. Collectively, Weibring and Wolfard have worked on more than 100 golf course projects worldwide.

The company was founded in 1987 by D.A. Weibring, a 12-time winner on the PGA, Champions and other international golf tours. In 1997, Weibring was joined by award-winning golf course architect Steve Wolfard. Prior to joining the company, Wolfard has collaborated on golf course projects with pros, including Jack Nicklaus, Fred Couples and Johnny Miller.

“As an architect and a business partner, Steve’s expertise and leadership are the driving force behind the projects we’ve completed together.” Weibring said. “Steve is integral to our team’s success and the company’s new name is a reflection of his impact.”

Most recently, Weibring and Wolfard completed the redesign of the TPC Four Seasons Las Colinas course, the site of the PGA TOUR’s EDS Byron Nelson Championship.

It is the second PGA TOUR venue designed by Weibring and Wolfard.  In 2000, the company completed the design and development of the TPC at Deere Run golf course, site of the PGA Tour’s John Deere Classic in Silvis, Illinois. It was during that project the company instituted a process of involving fellow PGA TOUR players, officials and members to gather input and build a consensus on the course’s design. This process proved very successful and is the approach the company still uses in developing each master plan.

“D.A. and I have been working together for the past 11 years creating golf courses that are both financially successful and have great playability,” Wolfard said. “We both bring individual strengths to each project to create the best results and I’m looking forward to this continued partnership and future successes.”
