Village to unveil major enhancements

Rebuilt greens, bunkers and a remodeled clubhouse will be showcased at Sept. 29 event for local leaders and businesses.

Panorama Village, Texas – The Village Golf Club will host a roll out event for community leaders and local businesses Sept. 29 to showcase the recently completed upgrades to the course and clubhouse that include rebuilt greens, a remodeled clubhouse and enhanced conditions and service at the Houston-area golf club.

Formerly a private facility known as Panorama Country Club, Billy Casper Golf – the golf course management company – began operating The Village in March 2005. Work began on the clubhouse and the greens on the “Winged Foot” nine in April.

The Village’s management team will be inviting community leaders, local business and other prospective clients and customers interested in holding events and outings at the course to the event.

“A lot of hard work has gone into enhancing the course conditions and expanding the amenities at The Village,” says Billy Casper Golf regional manager Bill Rehanek. “We are looking forward to showcasing the enhancements to many of the individuals and organizations considering outings and other events at The Village, as well as sharing the newly completed projects with the general golfing public. We believe everyone is going to be very pleased with the results.”

Addressing course conditions and The Village’s putting surfaces, BCG excavated all of the greens on the Winged Foot nine, rebuilding each one from scratch. The putting surfaces now feature Mini Verde Bermuda grass that is highly resistant to diseases and hot, humid conditions. The greens also feature tiers, undulations, false fronts and strategic bunkering, all of which place a premium on well-struck iron play. From the fairways of the Winged Foot nine, the looks of each hole and the required approach shots have been greatly enhanced.

In addition to its new greens, the bunkers on the Winged Foot nine have been rebuilt and feature improved drainage, high quality sand and re-shaping to enhance the aesthetics and playability around the greens.

The Village’s clubhouse has also received a makeover. With seating for 350 guests, the banquet facility provides views of the golf course and features a balcony overlooking the 18th hole, a new lounge and bar, a fully-remodeled interior with travertine tiling and dark wood accents and a parquet dance floor.
