Village set to unveil improvements

The Village Golf Club has scheduled a helicopter ball-drop to raise money for a hurricane relief – dropping 500 balls from a helicopter to one of the course’s greens.

The Village Golf Club in Panorama Village, Texas, formerly known as Panorama Country Club, received a major face-lift earlier this year. To unveil the changes, the course is inviting local community leaders, business owners and media members to an exclusive golf tournament and reception showcasing the extensive renovations and enhancements Nov. 18.

The greens have been rebuilt and re-grassed, the fairways and rough are contoured and the traps and tee boxes are well-maintained. Additionally, the clubhouse has been significantly re-modeled.

The Village is the first course in Texas to be operated by Billy Casper Golf – the nation’s fifth largest course management firm.

An 18-hole scramble-format tournament is scheduled for 9 a.m. with a post-round barbeque buffet set for 1 p.m. At 2 p.m., the course has scheduled a helicopter ball-drop to raise money for a hurricane relief – dropping 500 balls from a helicopter to one of the course’s greens. To enter, contestants “adopt” a ball with a donation to the Red Cross. Participants have a chance to win $25,000 if their ball is pre-selected and ends up closest to the pin.
