The Village of Woodridge, Illinois, picked KemperSports to manage Village Greens of Woodridge, a 67-year-old, 6,632-yard layout about 30 miles southwest of downtown Chicago.

The Woodridge Park District previously managed the course, ending a 25-year lease more than a decade early in November 2025. According to Chicago Golf Report, the new deal with KemperSports is a two-year professional services agreement. The Village is pursuing an independent assessment of the course and will continue to operate the course while the community considers long-term options for the site.

KemperSports touts its proven operating standards, agronomic expertise, strategic marketing, event management capabilities and a community first approach. Enhancements will focus on day-to-day service touchpoints, thoughtful course conditioning, and inclusive programming that welcomes golfers of all skill levels while strengthening the course’s role as a valued community asset.

“We are excited to partner with KemperSports and confident their experience and passion for delivering great golf experiences will elevate Village Greens of Woodridge,” Woodridge mayor Gina Cunningham said. “This agreement reflects our shared focus on customer service and ensuring the golf course continues to be a valued amenity for our neighbors.”

As part of the new management agreement, KemperSports announced that industry veteran Doug Friess will serve as GM. He joins the Woodridge team after eight years as GM at nearby Bolingbrook Golf Club, where he helped deliver one of the region’s premier municipal golf experiences and oversaw two LIV Golf Chicago events.

“Doug’s leadership, operational expertise, and understanding of the municipal golf landscape make him the ideal fit for Village Greens of Woodridge,” KemperSports Midwest Region operations VP Vince Juarez said. “His track record of elevating both the golfer experience and community engagement aligns perfectly with our goals for this property.”
