Victoria Hills Golf Club - the award-winning Ron Garl design at the heart of Victoria Park, a St. Joe community in DeLand - announced it will host the Florida Junior Tour ("FJT") May 13-14.
Featuring the state's best junior golfers, the Victoria Hills event will showcase male and female FJT members ages 13-15. Highlighting the boy's bracket will be standouts Andrew Colvin of Longwood, Rocky Khara of Sebring, Charlie Martin of Tampa, Julian Suri of St. Augustine, Travis Ralph of Redington Beach and Phillip Choi of Orlando. The girl's bracket is anchored by Maria Castenllanos of Stuart, Carlie Yadloczky of Casselberry and Jessica Schall of Lake Mary.
Victoria Hills Golf Club presents the state's best players - young and experienced - with a true championship caliber layout. The course recently hosted the Florida Golf Association's Senior Amateur Championship, and in 2005 it was the site of a U.S. Senior Open Sectional Qualifier and the Florida State Golf Association Junior Match Play Invitational.
"The course was extremely well-received by the FJT players in 2005 and we are honored to have been selected as a tournament venue in 2006," says Victoria Hills general manager David Buth. "Victoria Hills has the wherewithal to challenge the state's best players, yet from the forward tees it is enjoyable and playable for the average golfer."
First round pairings and starting times are available on the FJT website, www.floridajuniortour.org. After completion of the first round, all competitors will be regrouped by score within age group for their next round. Final round pairings will be available approximately one hour after round one scores have been posted. They will be posted to the FJT website, on the scoreboard, and in the Victoria Hills golf shop.
