Vandals with shovels damaged several greens at Jefferson Golf Course on the eve of Sunday's 70th annual Seattle Amateur Golf Tournament.
The course, at South Spokane Street and Beacon Avenue South on Beacon Hill, is only recently back in play after undergoing significant renovations.
"This kind of mindless vandalism of public property is disheartening," Seattle Parks and Recreation Superintendent Ken Bounds said. "And just before a major tournament, it's expensive to repair. We're asking that anyone who knows anything about it call the Seattle police."
