RDC Golf Group, a golf course ownership and management company, announced that Brian Matt was appointed general manager of Tuscawilla Country Club in northeast Orlando. With over 15 years of experience in the golf club management and hospitality businesses, Matt brings a wealth of knowledge to the RDC-owned property that boasts one of the most extensive family-oriented programs in Central Florida.
Matt comes to Tuscawilla Country Club from Mission Valley Country Club in Laurel, Fla., where he served as general manager for four years. During Matt’s tenure at Mission Valley, he supervised a multi-million dollar renovation of the club, increased golf and dining revenues and introduced new communication tools for members.
Prior to working at Mission Valley, Matt spent four years with industry leader ClubCorp, serving as the general manager for prestigious golf properties in the company’s portfolio from South Carolina to California.
In addition to his golf operations knowledge, Matt also brings an extensive background in hospitality to the upgraded dining facilities at Tuscawilla. A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, Matt began his professional career serving in various capacities within the Marriott and Helmsley Hotel chains. From 1996-1999, he served as the clubhouse manager for the renowned Big Canyon Country Club, a full-service family-oriented club offering an array of upscale amenities and services to its 875 members.
“Brian Matt’s focus on high standards and member/customer service fit our organization well,” said RDC’s Chief Executive Officer Christopher Schiavone. “Our recent upgrades to the food and beverage facilities at Tuscawilla provide a challenge and opportunity that will be met with Brian’s wealth of food and beverage experience and commitment to leading a great team of clubhouse staff.
“I am confident that the many hard-working members of the Tuscawilla Country Club team will appreciate the leadership of Brian Matt, as the ownership looks forward to working with him.”
A graduate of the University of Iowa, Matt is a member of the Club Managers Association of America. He plans to reside in the city of Winter Springs.
