St. Petersburg, Fla. - Tourlinks.net has joined America Supports You, a nationwide Department of Defense program that showcases American's support of the armed forces. As part of this initiative, Tour Links will distribute Tour Links putting greens to U.S. troops throughout Iraq and Afghanistan.
Tour Links president Dave Barlow hopes the putting greens will provide relaxation to troops enduring the extreme conditions in the Middle East. With the help of the PGA Tour and DHL Shipping, Tour Links Putting Greens will donate a variety of portable golf greens to military posts throughout Iraq and Afghanistan.
"We are thrilled that Tour Links is joining the America Supports You team," deputy assistant Secretary of Defense Allison Barber says. "We look forward to working together to ensure the message that America Supports You reaches all of our troops. The putting greens will be greatly appreciated by our military men and women."
"We have all worked very hard to develop this great product, and now that Tour Links is selling tremendously worldwide, it is time to give back," says Barlow.
Many of the first shipment of greens have already been received at Ft. Campbell, KY, en route to Iraq.
"The PGA Tour and I have received incredible photos from soldiers showing the difficult conditions these guys are enduring," Barlow adds. "If we can bring a bit of relaxation to the troops and the opportunity to allow soldiers to continue to play the game they love, it will make us all very proud here at Tour Links and The PGA Tour."
Since the launch of the America Supports You program last November, more than two million Americans, including individual citizens, businesses and organizations, have logged onto AmericaSupportsYou.mil to register the activities and projects in their communities that show their support for America's Armed Forces.
