On the heels of announcing plans to open an office in Chicago, Troon has been selected to manage Naperville Country Club, a private, member-owned club located in the western suburbs of Chicagoland. Troon Privé, the private club operations division of Troon, will manage the prestigious and historic club.
“We are proud to be engaged with Naperville Country Club,” Troon COO Bruce Glasco said. “The golf course and friendly atmosphere at Naperville are both outstanding. As a company, we are wholly committed to growing the Troon presence throughout the Midwest and the recent acquisition of Green Golf Partners has helped us do so.”
Two years shy of its centennial, the club opened in 1921 with a 9-hole course before expanding to a full 18 designed by Tom Bendelow. That course remained largely untouched until 2006, when Steve Forrest added length, improved shot values, and developed new green complexes — earning at lest one Renovation of the Year honor in the process.
“We recognize that the golf industry in general has its challenges and it is amplified in the private club sector,” Naperville Country Club board president Ron Harper said. “As the Board engaged in planning for the club's future, we explored several options for managing our club and engaged in conversations with several golf management companies. In the end, we unanimously agreed that Troon was the best fit for us.
“We are excited to be partnering with the best golf management company in the world, and appreciate their enthusiasm for our members, our club and its rich history.”
