TPC Treviso Bay, a private golf club located in the gated community of Treviso Bay in Naples, Florida, celebrated the completion of a major course renovation project. The $3 million project encompassed a renovation of all 18 greens, seven practice greens, reconstruction of greenside and fairway bunkers, and reconstruction of forward (Bay) tees. There were also numerous in-house projects completed, including additional drainage and extensive landscaping. The project took only seven months to complete.

The 18-hole championship golf course opened in 2008 and was designed by Arthur Hills in consultation with Hal Sutton. Steve Forrest of Hills, Forrest and Smith, who was the original architect, served as the architect for the renovation with Ryangolf overseeing the construction.

Greens were fully reconstructed with turfgrass changing from paspalum to TifEagle Bermudagrass with TifGrand collars. Tees, fairways and roughs remain Paspalum grass. Three greens were re-positioned, with the total length of the golf course changing less than 10 to 15 yards. A large amount of landscape and mounding was added throughout the course, with a goal of better separating adjacent holes.

Greenside and fairway bunkers were reconstructed with ZLINE Bunker Liners and G-Angle Sand. The original course started with 90 total bunkers throughout the course and practice facility and a total of 90 remained at the conclusion of the project. The front nine bunkers decreased from 50 to 44 and the back nine bunkers increased from 32 to 39, which increased total on course bunkers from 82 to 83.

“This project has been an exciting upgrade to what has always been considered a world-class golf experience,” general manager Scott Bertrand said. “The renovation team consisting of members, staff and vendors has been focused since day one on delivering to the membership a project that is completed with the highest of standards, on time and under budget. We are thrilled that despite the challenges of the events of 2020 we were able to exceed the expectations established for this project.”
