TPC Summerlin has completed a renovation to further enhance its 18-hole golf course ahead of the PGA Tour’s Shriners Children’s Open.
The renovation at TPC Summerlin, part of the TPC Network, consisted of a regrass of all fairways and greens to newer, improved varieties. TPC Summerlin’s fairways were comprised of the originally planted 419 hybrid Bermudagrass. The fairways now consist of Bandera, a newer variety of Bermudagrass known for its aggressive growth habit and early spring green up and fall color retention. The aggressive style will lead to faster divot recovery and improved wear tolerance, offering a more uniform playing experience.
In addition to the fairways, the project regrassed all bentgrass greens to Dominator, a blend of two high-quality bentgrasses selected for its proven performance in warmer climates and exceptional density and texture. Longtime TPC Summerlin director of golf course maintenance operations Dale Hahn led the grow-in effort.
“This renovation was crucial to uphold our standard as the host of the Shriners Children’s Open,” TPC Summerlin general manager Brian Hawthorne said. “We’re beyond pleased with the changes and look forward to witnessing the enhanced playing experience every day for our members and at the upcoming tournament.”
