Prior Lake, MN- To enhance the golfing experience of its guests, The Meadows at Mystic Lake will open for the season on Friday, April 10, 2009, with a newly redesigned Hole #7, which now includes a water feature. This hole is already one of the more dramatic holes on this highly regarded golf course. Nicknamed “Eagle,” Number 7 plays as a downhill par 3 at anywhere from 115 yards to 213 yards. The redesign brings additional challenge and drama to the golf hole by adding a dramatic waterfall as a backdrop to its left side.
Along with the waterfall, there is a cascading stream that mirrors the meandering streams already featured on holes 5 and 6. The stream on Number 7 spills into the existing pond in front of the green, which has a limestone rock wall to clearly define the edge of the pond. Golfers need to carry the wall in front of the green if they choose to play the risk reward game by going directly at a left side pin setting.
As The Meadows at Mystic Lake matures into one of the Midwest’s best resort golf courses, the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community continues to look for ways to enhance the golf course by adding amenities that complement both the course and the cultural traditions of the Dakota people.
Redesigned by architect Paul Miller, construction was done by SMSC staff. Miller was part of the firm Gill Miller Inc. with Garrett Gill which designed The Meadows at Mystic Lake. The course opened in 2005.
The Meadows at Mystic Lake was ranked as one of the top ten new golf courses in the country in the January 2007 issue of Golf Digest, the largest golf publication in the world, with a circulation of 1.6 million.
