Tetherow Golf Club opens in Oregon

The David McLay Kidd-designed course features links-style play and mountain views.

Tetherow Golf Club, a David McLay Kidd-designed course in Bend, Ore., opened for member play and limited outside play.

Playing to a par 72 and stretching from 5,044 yards from the red tees to 7,298 yards from the “Kidd Tees,” Tetherow Golf Club features a number of Kidd’s signature design traits, said to include elements of links-style play such as playing the game along the ground as well as the air, in addition to wispy grasses, ragged bunkers and gnarly knobs and knolls.

The routing takes advantage of the panoramic views of the Cascade peaks including Three Sisters and Broken Top as well as the rugged high desert terrain. “It is my hope that golfers playing Tetherow will look to the experience as a unique adventure,” says golf course architect David McLay Kidd (whose recent designs include Bandon Dunes and the Castle Course, the seventh course at St. Andrews, Scotland). “We set out to create something that is truly unique – from the fescue grassing plan that encourages lower shot selection to the grass hollows, rugged features and creative green complexes – creating a truly distinctive and memorable golf experience.”
