Dr. T’s Nature Products launched its newly reformulated Deer Repellent.
Independent fields tests, performed by Snell Scientific Research, evaluated the effectiveness of the top-selling deer repellents in the current market. In these studies, Dr. T’s Deer Repellent was tested along with the following: Liquid Fence, Deer Off, Deer Away, Shot Gun, ShakeAway and Plantskydd. Results from this testing concluded that Dr. T’s Deer Repellent was substantially more effective and longer lasting than any of the other repellents tested.
Plot assignments: Multiple product deer repellency test July 23 through Sept. 4.
Plot prep:
All plots were prepared on July 10. Each plot consisted of a rectangle containing approximately 500 sq. feet of vigorously growing Whitetail Deer Clover. Each plot was marked by four corner markers, one of which was the label marker. Controls 1 and 2 were laid out identical to test plots; “cage” refers a 4-foot by 4-foot fully enclosed wire cage to prevent deer browsing entirely. Once prepared, plots were untouched to facilitate acclimation by deer.
All plots were located in a 1.5-acre field of clover enclosed by a 3-wire barbed wire fence. Multiple observations during the two weeks prior to preparation showed an average of 18 deer feeding within the 1.5-acre-field by 9 p.m. This would represent extreme feeding pressure.
Treatment:
Test plots were treated on July 23 according to label directions with 2 exceptions:
1. ShakeAway calls for weekly applications such subsequent applications were not deemed appropriate for this test.
2, Plantskydd called for a second application after three weeks, such subsequent application was not deemed appropriate for this test.
3. Liquid Fence label states: Repeat process one week later and then approximately once per month thereafter. Areas where feeding pressure from deer and rabbits is intense, spray Liquid Fence once a week for three weeks and then approximately once per month thereafter. Such subsequent application was not deemed appropriate for this test.
