Algae still present
Wet conditions for much of the growing season through the eastern United States has promoted algae growth on greens. In many cases algae results in crusting atop the soil surface. Even with full cover on greens at this time of the year, algae may be present under the turf canopy.
Check for presence or absence of algae. If algae are present, consider spiking through the fall to help reduce any surface sealing that may occur.
