Target Specialty Products, which focuses on pest control, vector, and turf and ornamental solutions across the United States and Canada, will host its next free Turf Fuel Masterclass webinar, “Plant Health, Protection, and Resistance to Optimize Disease Management Solutions” at noon on March 22.
A panel of turf experts will share their perspectives on plant health, the utilization of biostimulants, and plant protection and resistance to optimize disease management solutions, among other topics. Continuing education credits will be provided in select territories. The webinar is free with registration.
Panelists will include Dr. Jim Kerns, associate professor and extension specialist of turfgrass pathology at NC State University; Dr. Cameron M. Stephens, technical market manager of turf and ornamentals at BASF Professional & Specialty Solutions; and Steve Loveday, product development manager at Target Specialty Products.
Kerns focuses on etiology, epidemiology, and management of diseases of both warm- and cool- season grasses. His research program focuses on understanding the biology of ultradwarf Bermudagrass diseases, large patch of zoysiagrass, plant parasitic nematodes in turf and diseases of creeping bentgrass. His program has focused on the movement of fungicides into root-zones following post-application irrigation.
Stephens holds a Ph.D. in plant pathology from NC State University, an M.S. in agronomy from Penn State University, and a B.S. in turfgrass science from Ohio State University. He studied various topics related to turfgrass management, turfgrass pathology, fungicide resistance and the environmental fate of fungicides on golf courses. At BASF, he is responsible for helping steward new solutions to the turf and ornamental industry.
Loveday earned his B.S. from Michigan State University and has worked in the golf industry for the past 25 years. He spent nine years working in golf course management and maintenance prior to honing his skills in plant nutrition, biostimulation and plant defense activation.
“We are excited to provide this educational opportunity to turf managers who are in need of turf support and continuing education credits,” Target Speciality Products president David Helt said, adding that the company “strives to be the go-to educational resource for our customers.”
