Syngenta Business Institute applications opening March 1

Eighth annual SBI is Dec. 5-8 in Winston Salem, N.C.

Golf course superintendents seeking to enhance their business acumen can apply for the 2016 Syngenta Business Institute starting March 1. Through SBI, Syngenta partners with the nationally-ranked Wake Forest University School of Business to provide superintendents with heightened business and managerial skills.

The eighth annual SBI will take place December 5-8, 2016, in Winston-Salem, N.C. Syngenta receives nearly 100 applications annually, and approximately 25 superintendents are chosen to attend the program.

Selected participants will learn business management practices presented by Wake Forest University faculty, such as financial management, managing generational and cultural differences, delegation skills, effective communication, and negotiation tactics. To be considered, candidates must complete the application, which includes an essay on why they should be selected, relevant professional experience and educational background.

“The Syngenta Business Institute is arguably the best continuing education program I have attended,” said Eric Feldhusen, superintendent at MountainGate Country Club in Los Angeles and 2015 SBI attendee. “It was a learning experience that will allow me to grow as a leader for my maintenance team and club.”

For more than seven years, superintendents have recognized this program for its effectiveness and impact on their careers.

“Everything about the Syngenta Business Institute is great – the people, the instructors and the networking opportunities,” said Sean Reehoorn, superintendent at Aldarra Golf Club in Sammamish, Wash. “I left with tools I can use to help me both professionally and personally. I can’t say enough about this program and would encourage any superintendent in the business to apply.”
