Summer golf academy opens in Florida

The Mission Inn Resort & Club teams with Gary Gilchrist to offer summer golf camps.

Mission Inn Resort & Club, just 45 minutes northwest of Orlando, is home to the new Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy, designed for young golfers worldwide who are keen on becoming collegiate or professional golfers. A new summer program, designed to produce results in the shortest period of time, launches today, announced Gary Gilchrist, its founder.

“Our mission is to prepare students technically, mentally and physically to succeed at the collegiate and professional level,” says Gilchrist. “We aim to provide the highest level of tournament competition training for all inspired junior golfers, and I believe Mission Inn Resort & Club is the ideal location for our home base.”

Gilchrist’s summer golf camp is designed to accelerate each participant’s development. In addition to golf training, drills and analysis, the Monday though Friday program includes fitness training, sports psychology workshops and 9 holes of golf daily. Offered from June 16 – August 23, the program is priced at $1,650 per week, which includes three meals daily, accommodations and a full schedule of recreational activities, or $1,150 per week for non-boarding students (lunch only).

Mission Inn Resort & Club (www.missioninnresort.com) provides the perfect backdrop and recreational facilities for this champion-level training facility. Junior golfers attending the academy will have the opportunity to practice on the resort’s two world-class courses: the vintage El Campeón (“The Champion”) course, widely considered one of Florida’s finest, and Las Colinas (“The Hills”) course, which opened in 1992 and was designed by former PGA Tour Player Gary Koch. A brand new practice area is scheduled to open in August 2008.
