Judging criteria includes: merchandising techniques and philosophy, details and innovation, displays, staff training, shop operations and inventory mix, and merchandising performance. Barton Creek’s five pro shops offer a wide range of golf attire, equipment and resort merchandise. The main Resort pro shop recently acquired the rights to a display fixture that showcases merchandise for Tag Heuer, Cole Haan and Tiger Woods Nike Apparel, making Barton Creek Resort & Spa one of only five golf shops in the world to have this display.  Women’s apparel includes the exclusive Lija line out of Canada, as well as the ET Pro, Tehama, Nike and Ralph Lauren.

A staff member at Barton Creek Resort & Spa for 15 years, Dees plays a key role in guiding the development of The Resort’s golf courses to their status as the Golf Capital of Texas. Some of golf’s biggest names are the visionaries behind the Resort’s four 18-hole championship courses – Fazio Foothills, Fazio Canyons, Crenshaw Cliffside and Palmer Lakeside. Fazio Foohills was selected to the Top 100 Golf Courses by Golf Magazine, the No. 2 Best Course in Texas by Golfweek and Travel & Leisure Golf.  Fazio Canyons has the distinction of being selected as the No. 1 course in Texas by Travel & Leisure Golf, and was also recognized as one of the Top 100 Modern Courses in America by Golfweek. The Resort’s renowned courses offer challenges to golfers of every skill level while carefully preserving and integrating the natural Hill Country environment into every hole, earning the Resort the prestigious Certified Audubon Golf Course distinction.

The resort also is at the forefront of state-of-the-art instructional techniques, and is home to the Chuck Cook Golf Academy, the Southwest’s premier golf school. Visit bartoncreek.com to see a complete listing of the Chuck Cook Golf Academy curriculum in 2007.
