“We’ve been impressed with John Deere equipment and the service from Cascade Turf,” says Screen. “With a top-notch supplier network, competitive pricing and a single point of contact, John Deere is a natural fit for our build and grow-in plan. The superintendent and I can spend more of our time on-site instead of on the phone.”
When course designer Jerry Kamis began planning the construction of Old Trail Golf Course near Charlottesville, Va., he accounted for the usual weather delays and supply-chain hiccups. And sure enough, the rain came – but a partnership with John Deere Golf & Turf One Source helped him keep supplier snags out of the forecast.
Kamis received everything needed to build a golf course – from construction and maintenance equipment to irrigation, drainage and landscape materials, seed and sod – all through a single John Deere One Source distributor (Revels Tractor Co.). According to Kamis, he completed construction of the 18-hole, par 72 course seven months ahead of schedule, resulting in an estimated project savings of more than $1.6 million.
Shawn Emerson, director of agronomy at Desert Mountain Properties in Scottsdale, Ariz., is charged with managing six championship Jack Nicklaus Signature Courses. In addition to leasing John Deere mowing and maintenance equipment fleets as a One Source national account, he’s also able to reduce back-office time by purchasing Liquigistics fertigation and water treatment systems through the same distributor, Arizona Machinery.
“This program is successful because it’s flexible,” says Gregg Breningmeyer, director of sales and marketing, John Deere Golf & Turf One Source. “For courses like Old Trail and White Horse, we’re a full-service business partner ready to move them from design to daily operation. For others – even those who aren’t current John Deere customers – we’re here to make their time more efficient by offering most anything they need through a single phone call and a single monthly invoice.”
