SouthWood to host tournament

SouthWood Golf Club in Tallahassee, Fla., will host the Sixth Annual Sheriff Larry Campbell Refuge House Golf Tournament Oct. 3.

Tallahassee, Fla. - SouthWood Golf Club will host the Sixth Annual Sheriff Larry Campbell Refuge House Golf Tournament Oct. 3.
 
Admission for the four-person, best-ball tournament is limited to the first 36 teams entered. The deadline for registration is September 28. The entry fee is $125 per player or $500 per team and includes cart and green fees, prize fund, awards ceremony and raffle. All proceeds will benefit Refuge House.
Participants will take aim at a hole-in-one prize of a new Harley-Davidson motorcycle, courtesy of Capital City Harley-Davidson. Other prizes will be awarded to the first-, second-, and third-place teams, and for the longest drive, longest putt, and closest to the pin. Additional sponsors include Tallahassee State Bank, Hopping Green & Sams, James Moore & Co., The Selvin Group, Fox 49 and The Clothesline.
 
The mission of Refuge House is to provide direct services to battered women, their children and sexual assault survivors, as well as to work to eliminate the conditions in society that allow such violence to continue. Families come to Refuge House when they have no other safe housing option. Shelter can be provided for as many as 50 women and children for as long as 35 days. The shelter recently opened a transitional housing wing that can house four families for up to two years.
