SouthWood Golf Club to host Tallahassee Amateur Golf Championship

Thirty-Six-Hole, individual stroke play tournament attracts Leon County golfers.

SouthWood Golf Club in Tallahassee, Fla., will host the inaugural Tallahassee Amateur Golf Championship March 24-25.
 
The first round will be played at Killearn Country Club and Inn, and the second and final round at SouthWood. Both rounds will start at 11:30 a.m., and players must be residents of Leon County to enter (proof of residency required). The $125 entry fee includes prize fund, green/cart fees, range balls and one practice round at each course during the week of the tournament.
 
Players will be flighted by their handicap index and must have a valid 2007 USGA index to enter. Six flights will accommodate indexes ranging from 2.9 and lower to 17 and higher. The first flight will play both courses from 6,800 yards.
 
“The Tallahassee Amateur Golf Championship is positioned to become the city’s premier golf event and we’re honored to host the inaugural tournament,” says Beth Murphy, SouthWood’s general manager. “As the official course of the Florida State University men’s and women’s golf teams and site of numerous other local and regional tournaments, we believe the course is well-suited to provide an enjoyable, challenging setting for the Tallahassee Amateur Golf Championship.”
