SouthWood Golf Club to host 3rd annual 'SouthWood Cup'

36-hole, four-ball stroke play tournament features $1,000 first prize.

SouthWood Golf Club - the award winning, upscale public course at the heart of a Tallahassee, Fla. community - will host the 3rd annual "SouthWood Cup" Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 5-6, sponsored by Moss Creek Custom Homes.

Admission for the four-ball stroke play format tournament is limited to the first 48 teams to register, and players must have a USGA handicap (maximum 20). The entry fee of $165 per player includes cart and green fees, prize fund, practice round (cart fee only) a team welcome party on Friday night and a deli sandwich bar after golf on Saturday and Sunday.

The SouthWood Cup is contested from SouthWood's 6,500-yard #4 tees and features four flights of 12 teams. A championship "gross" flight contested from the #5 tees (6,900 yards) is open to the first 12 teams to register. The overall low gross and low net winning teams will win $1,000. The top three net teams in each flight will win as follows: first ($750 per team); second ($500), third ($400); second day low team ($200).

"The SouthWood Cup is quickly becoming a treasured tradition and we're excited to host the third edition of this popular event," says Beth Murphy, SouthWood's general manager. "The course is in peak condition from tee to green and will provide a challenging, fair playing surface for all participants."
