South Carolina Golf Week, a five-day celebration of the sport in the Palmetto State, kicks off Monday with the S.C. Golf Association's Trescott Team Championship at Columbia Country Club.

The tournament features three-man teams from South Carolina Golf Association member clubs in a best-ball format. In 2004, the Columbia Country Club trio of Robert Dargan, David Dargan and Eddie Hargett won by two shots over a team from Holly Tree Country Club.

The week's activities include a "Kids on Greens" Day, with 60-80 youngsters learning about golf-course preparation. The Tuesday event, also at Columbia CC, is hosted by the Carolinas Golf Course Superintendents Association and Midlands Turfgrass Association. Call club superintendent Jeff Connell at (803) 600-8892 for details.
