Plymouth, Mass. – Proderma, maker of the exclusive line of sun and skin-care products formulated specifically for golfers, had its SPF 50 Prism named the official sunscreen of the 2005 Singapore Open, played on the Sentosa Golf Club’s Serapong Course Sept. 8 through 11.
First played in 1962, the Singapore Open is one of the longest-running events on the Asian Tour. With a $2 million purse, the tournament is by far the richest national open in Asia. This year’s field features four players from top 60 in the World Golf Rankings, including Australian star Adam Scott, ranked seventh, England’s Lee Westwood ranked 36th and Australians Nick O’Hern and Craig Parry ranked 28th and 51st, respectively.
Proderma’s sponsorship was facilitated and co-funded by Trendzworld International Pte Ltd, Proderma’s Singapore-based exclusive distributor for Asia. Under the terms of the agreement, Prism sunscreen will be among the prizes for Pro-Am participants, and available in the player’s changing room, the VIP hospitality marquees, the media center and other high traffic areas on site.
“We are excited and honored that Prism is the official sunscreen of this prestigious and longstanding event,” says Mike Argyelan, c.e.o. of Proderma Products. “Marquee tournaments such as the Singapore Open enable Proderma to further educate golfers about the importance of protecting their skin from potentially deadly UVA and UVB rays.”
Designed by Ronald Fream and opened in 1982, the Serapong Course is a par-72 championship layout measuring 6,943 yards from the tournament tees. The course hosted the world qualifying round of the Dunhill Cup in 1988, and was voted one of the best courses in Singapore by The Asia Golf Review and the Asian Golf Monthly Awards on several occasions.
Featuring Proderma’s ABS-ZN45 technology, transparent zinc oxide and other active ingredients, Prism absorbs, blocks and scatters harmful UVA and UVB rays. A rich compliment of vitamins A, C and E and herbal extract help nourish the skin while Prism’s lack of alcohol and oil base prevents the skin from drying. Prism’s greaseless, odorless formula dries in less than 10 seconds, thus preventing club slippage.
Prism is sweat and water resistant, easy and smooth to apply, withstands the harsh weather conditions in which golfers play, and discourages insects. Of utmost importance to professional, amateur and recreational golfers who spend countless hours in the sun, Prism recently performed at an SPF of 35 for over eight hours according to independent tests conducted during hot summer days in Dallas.
