Irrigation equipment supplier Signature Control Systems acquired L.R. Nelson Corp.’s Turf Division based in Peoria, Ill.
Signature, the Irvine, Calif.-based manufacturer of electronic control equipment, management software and irrigation equipment, expects to strengthen its business through this acquisition based on Nelson Turf’s employees, products and technologies, manufacturing and distribution channels. The two firms have a combined 100,000 square feet of manufacturing and operations space in Irvine and Peoria.
"We are delighted to close the transaction and have begun transitioning the Nelson Turf employees and the assets in earnest," says Brian Smith, Signature’s c.e.o. “This acquisition fits perfectly with our strategy to continue building out our intellectual property portfolio and manufacturing capabilities. While much work lies ahead, we are especially encouraged by the positive response we've received from our customers, employees, distributors and strategic alliance partners. The Nelson Turf product line fits very well with how we've structured the Signature business and this acquisition is clearly complimentary to our already expanding global business.”
In the last few years, Signature has experienced growth operations in Europe, Middle East and Africa with an office in France and regional sales managers fully dedicated to the region.
“We are excited to join Signature, a dynamic company that shares our commitment to deliver innovative technology and compelling user experiences for our industry,” says Roberto Izaguirre, previously Nelson Turf’s president and Signature’s new Turf Division executive vice president. “With the complimentary effect of the combined product lines, Signature will be able to increase its presence in the residential and commercial irrigation market globally.”
