The Golf Course Superintendents Association of New Jersey (GCSANJ) recently honored Murray State University alumnus and Bayer Environmental Science sales representative Shaun Barry with its 2005 Distinguished Service Award.
The GCSANJ, founded in 1926, presented the award to Barry at the New Jersey Green Industry Expo for his continued commitment to the industry.
Barry, who has been an active Board member of the GCSANJ for 18 years, has shown his dedication to the organization by coordinating their monthly superintendent meetings, which take place from April through November. The meetings provide superintendents the opportunity to hear educational speakers, play golf, and most importantly, to interact with others in their field.
In addition to being honored with the 2005 Distinguished Service Award by the GCSANJ, Barry was the recipient of the GCSANJ Member of the Year Award in 1996.
A 1970 graduate of Murray State University, Barry earned a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts with a double major in English and history. Throughout the years, Barry has continued to support the GCSANJ, and currently serves as president of the GCSANJ Foundation.
