Saddle Creek Resort introduces weekly wine tasting with piano accompaniment

New wine bar features Calaveras County, Napa and Sonoma varietals.

Saddle Creek Resort - the gated, 900-acre Castle & Cooke community in the scenic California Foothills - today announces it will host a weekly wine tasting in the foyer of The Lodge from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., featuring Calaveras, Napa and Sonoma County Varietals.

Wines will be accompanied by appetizers prepared by Executive Chef Richard Whipple and select cheeses from the resort's vast "World of Cheese" reserve. Adding a subtle and soothing atmosphere to the weekly event, local musicians will perform a variety of classical and modern arrangements on The Lodge's new piano.

"With its vaulted ceilings and twin stone fireplaces, The Lodge is the perfect setting for a weekly wine tasting," says Saddle Creek general manager Bill Troyanoski. "We are excited to offer this amenity to our members and guests and to further expand the resort's culinary and luxury lifestyle experience."

Saddle Creek recently introduced monthly Focused Food and Wine Pairing nights, showcasing wine from local and regional vineyards, as well as produce, meats and fish from local farms and nationally-recognized organic purveyors. Whipple, along with longtime Restaurant Manager and Maitre d' Ron Azzopardi, carefully select complementary wines for each dish, including the robust red and delicate white treasures of Calaveras County and popular Napa and Sonoma selections.

Rather than being confined to a table for upward of two hours, attendees are encouraged to mingle, exchange thoughts and opinions about the fare and wine, as well as ask questions of Whipple and Azzopardi regarding the offerings and pairings. The overall atmosphere is resort casual and food is displayed in a self-serve setting to provide a sensory-driven, interactive experience.
