Black Bear Golf Club, North Myrtle Beach, S.C., added the ProLink Solutions GPS system and plans to participate in ProLink’s exclusive national advertising opportunity.
Designed by Tom Jackson and notable for an absence of encroaching homes, Black Bear is a true parkland layout playing through coastal wetlands and forest. Water enters play often in the form of 23 finger lakes, but Black Bear’s wide fairways allow room for error. Still, the course is a stern test at 6,787 yards with a USGA Slope rating of 137 from the back tees. Black Bear is managed by Classic Golf Group and kept in pristine condition year-round.
“Black Bear poses its share of challenges from tee to green, so the ProLink GPS system is extremely helpful to our golfers,” says Patrick Wilkinson, General Manager at Black Bear Golf Club. “It’s also an excellent tool for management, speeding the flow of players around the course, boosting food-and-beverage sales, and adding dollars to our bottom line thanks to increased tournament play and advertising revenue.”
With ProLink’s 10.4-ich high-resolution color screen, Black Bear’s cart-mounted units display easy-to-read graphics including distances to the pin and hazards, pro tips, pace-of-play timer and radial arc for cart-path-only holes. Golfers at Black Bear will also be able to order food and beverage items on the ProLink screen.
