RTS completes $1.3 million irrigation redesign

The Estero Country Club made conservation a priority throughout the project.

The Estero Country Club near Fort Myers, Fla., hired Ragan Technical Solutions to plan, engineer and design a $1.3 million golf course irrigation system a complete restoration of the existing system.

The redesign of the golf course irrigation system is expected to decrease water consumption, save money, increase aesthetic appeal of the course and create awareness for this particular golf course irrigation design.

“It is the most technically advanced irrigation renovation in the area, and sets a new standard for others to follow,” says Dave Ragan, President and Owner of RTS. “This is the first course in Florida which chose this system because it will save water over the long term. Estero Country Club decided to make water efficiency its top priority. To achieve this goal, they employed an irrigation designer with innovative ideas, utilized irrigation system materials and components that are state-of-art, and instructed their golf course architect to revamp the golf course to reduce irrigation requirements.”

RTS also oversaw  construction, created a GPS map of all of underground components and programmed the PC that controls the whole system. The entire project took up to four months to plan and took Stahlman-England Irrigation four months to install.

Other highlights of the project include:

·         Use of high density polyethylene (HDPE) leak-proof pipe, which is expected to last for 50 years with no leaks.

·         Use of a greater number of sprinklers, which saves water by using part-circle sprinklers that apply water only where it's needed.
