Rocky Gap designated certified Audubon sanctuary

Ongoing program successfully maintains sound environmental management practices.

Rocky Gap Lodge & Golf Resort in Maryland, home to the state's only Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course, opens for play with enhanced conditions and additions to its golf operations.

A AAA Four Diamond award-winning resort, Rocky Gap was recently designated a "Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary" because of its ongoing program to protect the environment and preserve the natural heritage of golf.

In attaining this prominent certification, Rocky Gap successfully maintains sound environmental management practices in six key areas: environmental planning, wildlife and habitat management, outreach and education, chemical use reduction, water conservation, and water quality management.

The 7,000-yard Jack Nicklaus Signature Design course offers five sets of tees to match the skill level of any golfer and two unique playing experiences. The par-72 impresses with a front nine that weaves its way along the mountainside and boasts dramatic elevation changes, while the back nine features expansive, gently rolling fairways and scenic vistas with breathtaking views of the wooded splendor.
