Rick Robbins works on the site of Bartram Trail, located just outside of Augusta, Ga.

“Our ability to provide complete forward planning services to our clients so they can get what they need to evaluate potential developments in one place has been very successful for both parties,” says Rick Robbins, president of the firm. “Because our design staff has worked extensively within the development community and we have a great many golf course designs to our credit, our clients know we understand the needs for value in the real estate combined with great golf.”

This summer, two new courses designed by the Robbins & Associates team will open. Bartram Trail, located about 10 miles west of Augusta, Ga., is in the final stages of planting the last six fairways. The course is part of an over 800-acre mixed-use housing development, also planned by Robbins & Associates. Both the course and the development will have certification by Audubon International.

Canyon Ridge Club at Tauqueta Falls will have its grand opening in June. The course lies on top of Lookout Mountain, some 25 miles southwest of Chattanooga, Tenn. It is being built as part of a resort development of some 450 acres.

The Poplar Hill Golf Club, in Farmville, Va., is also under construction.

“With any cooperation from the weather, the course will be finished this summer and could, possibly have a “soft opening” this fall,” says Robbins.

The most likely opening date will be next spring, in time for a full summer of play. The course is the centerpiece of a housing development of more than 1,000 acres, also master planned by Robbins & Associates. A hotel and conference center is planned to begin in the near future that will provide meeting facilities for nearby Longwood University and Hampton Sydney College.

Robbins & Associates is currently in the active planning stages for several new projects. Three of these new projects should begin construction this summer or fall. Country Club East at Lakewood Ranch in Bradenton, Fla., will likely go out for bids in July or August. Wilderness Trail Golf Club, near Banner Elk, N.C., has been master planned and the golf course centerlines are now being set for review in the field. Likewise, the Links at Westport, in Westport, Wash., has been laid out with clearing of the golf corridors scheduled to begin in late May or early June.

Also being planned are an active adult community that includes 18 holes of golf on 460 acres in Culpeper, Va., two large-scale projects north of Knoxville, Tenn., containing golf courses and two more master planned communities north of Tampa, Fla.
