Reston National Golf Course announced the addition of Sean Callahan as the new golf course superintendent. Callahan brings 16 years of turf management experience and a deep passion for maintaining exceptional playing conditions.

Callahan quickly made an impact, joining the Reston National team in early November with a focus on elevating course conditions and preparing the property for the 2026 season. His hands-on leadership and attention to detail will play a key role in continuing to provide golfers with an outstanding experience Reston National is known for.

Golfers can already see Callahan and his team hard at work throughout the course as they implement new agronomic strategies and improvements designed to enhance playability. Early efforts include increased seeding on greens, tees, and fairways, as well as cart path patchwork, with plans to repair all potholes and path issues throughout the property. Callahan is also developing and scheduling the chemical and fertilizer plan for the 2026 season to promote stronger turfgrass health. In addition, aeration of thin or weak areas on greens is underway to encourage growth heading into winter and ensure better recovery in the spring.

Callahan joins the Reston National team after previously being the assistant superintendent at Evergreen Country Club for almost six years, where he was involved with a large two-phase tee renovation project. Callahan also led several in-house bunker removal and renovation projects, tree and landscaping enhancements to improve course aesthetics, and major drainage improvements.
