The annual OSU/OTF Turfgrass Research Field Day is scheduled for August 17 at the Ohio Turfgrass Foundation Research and Education Center in Columbus, Ohio.

The annual OSU/OTF Turfgrass Research Field Day is scheduled for August 17 at the Ohio Turfgrass Foundation Research and Education Center in Columbus, Ohio. The day-long event is sponsored by the Ohio Turfgrass Foundation, The Ohio State University, OSU Extension and the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center.

Updates will be provided on the following research currently being conducted at OSU:
· Timing of fungicide applications and their impact on dollar spot;
· Turfgrass fungicide efficacy trials and disease update;
· Broadleaf weed control update;
· Bentgrass control in Kentucky bluegrass and other cool-season grasses;
· Growth responses of transgenic creeping bentgrass under shade stress;
· Sports turf root zone study;
· Water runoff studies;
· New turfgrass insecticides;
· Hairy chinch bug studies;
· Action of insecticides on non-target arthropods;
· Traffic tolerance of cool-season sport fields;
· Post-emergent crabgrass herbicide update;
· Insect parasitic nematode incidence on Ohio golf courses;
· Development of biological controls for white grub management; and
· OSU urban landscape ecology program.

An afternoon program offering pesticide license re-certification credit will cover broadleaf weed control and ornamental insect and mite control.

The OSU/OTF Turfgrass Research Field Day offers a chance for all professional turf managers to tour the 25-acre Turfgrass Research Center on The Ohio State University campus in Columbus, and to learn about the latest research on active turfgrass and ornamental studies being conducted by the OSU Turfgrass Science Team. More than 500 turfgrass managers are expected to attend.
