Dorado, Puerto Rico - The Hyatt Dorado Beach Resort & Country Club continues its planned enhancement program with a second $6.5-million Dorado Plantation golf clubhouse, golf pavilion and complete renovation of two of the resorts four signature Robert Trent Jones Sr. courses. Slated to reopen in January 2005, the two courses will be transformed with six new holes, four redesigned holes, a driving range, new lakes and rivers in a $3-million renovation. The January 2005 opening completes the total renovation of all four Trent Jones Sr. designed courses. The golf clubhouse and golf pavilion are slated to open in the spring of 2005.
“When Laurence Rockefeller built this resort in 1958, he was an innovator and visionary, said Victor Lopez, divisional vice president of Hyatt Hotels and Resorts. “Dorado’s architecture and landscape design were planned with a sensitivity to the environment and choice setting, offering open air walkways and lobbies, and low rise accommodations that brush the beach. Dorado became an immediate classic, whose finest features and traditions we have preserved and will continue to enhance with our long term master plan. As called for in Rockefeller’s original plan, no resort building is taller than a palm tree.”
The new 45,000-square-foot Dorado Plantation golf clubhouse will be the second on Hyatt Dorado Beach Resort & Country Club grounds, adjacent to a new golf pavilion. The pavilion will be the largest on the island and will accommodate golf tournament groups, weddings and other food and beverage functions for as many as 300 persons.
