Redhawk Golf Club being restored to first-class condition

Redhawk Golf Club in Temecula, Calif., has recently undergone major renovations, with more transformations on the way.

Redhawk Golf Club in Temecula has recently undergone major renovations, with more transformations on the way. The club, once voted as one of the top 10 public courses in Southern California, recently received top honors from Golf Digest and the Zagat Survey.

The Corky McMillin Companies purchased Redhawk Golf Club in 2002 and have since planned and implemented continuous renovations and site improvements. The course is located within the Redhawk master-planned community and adjacent to Morgan Hill, The Corky McMillin Companies' newest community in Temecula.

Redhawk Golf Club and Temeku Hills Golf and Country Club, also developed by McMillin, were both recently awarded the coveted Four Star "Must Play" rating for 2004 from Golf Digest. The Zagat Survey also recently rated Redhawk Golf Club as "excellent" among the nation's top golf facilities.

Redhawk currently includes an 18-hole golf course, a unique two-level practice putting green, practice facility, temporary golf shop and the new Rico's Cantina Bar & Grill, which features a large courtyard with a fountain and outdoor, as well as indoor dining.

Improvements to date include the restoration of 48 bunkers, and landscaping on the links has been significantly upgraded to enhance the natural beauty of the course.

"There has been a definite increase in guest satisfaction since the continuous upgrades have taken place here at Redhawk," said Mark Stevens, vice-president of CSC Golf and manager of both McMillin golf clubs in Temecula, Redhawk and Temeku.

"This was already a fantastic course, so we don't need to alter the layout or features of the golf course itself. Our upgrades and renovations are going to make an already great golf experience that much better."

Additional improvements planned include a new golf shop and administration building, which are both currently under construction and scheduled for completion early next year. Together, these will create a village atmosphere of Spanish-style buildings connected by breezeways and surrounding a courtyard. The graceful water fountain outside Rico's Cantina Bar & Grill will serve as a focal point of the village.

The golf course will also receive a new fountain feature that will further expand the existing fountain and waterfalls on the course.

"Once the new facilities are all complete, we will have a top-notch and remarkably beautiful location for outdoor events," said Stevens. "The new waterfall and fountain in the village area will also make for a breathtaking location for picture-perfect wedding ceremonies."

Designed by Ron Fream and PGA tour professional Mark O'Meara, the Redhawk golf course has varying topography and elevation changes that provide exceptional views of the nearby mountains and the Temecula Valley.

"Redhawk is considered a true championship layout and, from the back tees, is a particularly demanding golf course for the accomplished golfer," said Stevens. "We are thrilled to be restoring the Redhawk course back to its championship condition. It was ranked in the top 10 of California public courses during its early years, and we plan to bring it back to that acclaim. We are clearly on the path to achieving this goal with the recent highly coveted ratings from Golf Digest and Zagat Survey."

The Corky McMillin Companies developed Temeku Hills Golf and Country Club over the past seven years, revitalizing a piece of land that had been dormant for five years. Temeku Hills. which includes an 18 hole PGA championship golf course and the expansive Temeku Hills clubhouse, was voted the No. 1 new-home community in the region for two years in a row by readers of the Riverside Press Enterprise.

Located at 45100 Redhawk Parkway in Temecula, the Redhawk Golf Club is approximately two miles cast of the intersection of Interstate 15 and Highway 79.
