Monroe Township, N.J. –RDC Golf Group, a golf course ownership and management company, purchased the West Course at Blue Heron Pines Golf Club near Atlantic City, N.J., from Ole Hansen & Sons, which is owned by Roger Hansen. Financial terms weren’t disclosed.
In addition to Blue Heron Pines, RDC and its affiliates own Forsgate Country Club in New Jersey, The Crossings Golf Club in North Carolina, and Tuscawilla Country Club and Heathrow Country Club in Florida.
“The purchase of Blue Heron Pines is part of our company’s strategic growth plan to acquire high-quality golf and country clubs in major metropolitan markets with significant growth potential,” says Matthew Galvin, executive vice president of RDC.
Stephen Kay designed The West Course at Blue Heron Pines, which opened in 1993 and currently is rated Four Stars by Golf Digest magazine.
During the 2005 golf season, RDC also will lease and operate the renowned 18-hole, Steve Smyers-designed East Course at Blue Heron Pines. Home to the 2003 U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship, the East Course is subject to a pending sale to K. Hovnanian Co., a residential developer. The course is scheduled to close to public play at the end of the golf season at which time all play will be consolidated onto the West Course.
