Monroe Township, NJ. – Tuscawilla Country Club golf course superintendent Chris Cartin is the recipient of the 2005 RDC President’s Award. RDC Golf Group is a golf course ownership and management company.
Every year since 1998, one employee of RDC is recognized for going above and beyond the scope of his/her job. The recipient is chosen from among the employees of RDC’s two managed properties and four owned and operated golf course properties along the East Coast.
RDC President’s Award recipients receive a plaque commemorating their award as well as a cash prize in appreciation of their hard work and dedication to the company and its goals.
A Golf Course Superintendent Association of America member and Class “A” superintendent for eight years, Cartin joined Tuscawilla Country Club from Deltona Hills Country Club in Deltona, Fla., where he served in dual roles as golf course superintendent and general manager. Cartin began his career in 1990 at Alaqua Country Club in Longwood, Fla., and over the course of nine years he worked his way up from grounds man and irrigation technician to assistant golf course superintendent.
At Tuscawilla Country Club, Cartin recently supervised the second phase of the club’s extensive golf course restoration project. All of the course’s 18 greens were revitalized and expanded by 40 percent, restoring Joe Lee’s original intent for the design; the club’s putting green and chipping green were fully renovated offering members upgraded surfaces to practice their shots; and eight new tee boxes were constructed lengthening the course from 6,647 yards to 6,850 yards.
“We are fortunate to have a great team at RDC facilities,” RDC chief executive officer Christopher Schiavone says. “Chris Cartin combines dedication and experience with a positive outlook that is a boost to the morale of those who work with him at Tuscawilla. Chris is as good at nurturing his team as he is at nurturing his turf. The results speak clearly to his ability, as do those teammates and club members that have come to know him.”
Currently, Cartin is the president of the local Central Florida Superintendent’s Association and has served on the board of directors for the Central Florida Chapter for the past five years.
“Chris Cartin does a fantastic job at Tuscawilla,” says general manager Mike Gardner. “Chris’s positive attitude, commitment and team work combined with his vast agronomic skills have been a welcome addition to our premier private facility. Chris joins an elite list of Tuscawilla Country Club employees that have received the coveted RDC President’s Award including head golf professional Carolyn McKenzie, controller Mark Kressin and director of tennis Glen Howe.”
