Ravenna construction under way

The Denver course, designed by golf course architect Jay Morrish, is scheduled for completion in the Fall of 2006.

Denver, Colo. – Ravenna, a new five star community occupying 627 acres on Colorado’s Front Range, has begun construction. The course, designed by golf course architect Jay Morrish, is scheduled for completion in the Fall of 2006.

“It’s an exciting time for Ravenna and all of our members who, 12 months from now, will be playing one of the nation’s most spectacular golf courses,” says Glenn Jacks, a partner with Ravenna’s ownership and development team. “Jay Morrish has done an incredible job with our course design. There is artistic continuity between the golf course and its dramatic surroundings. People who become members will truly be part of an extraordinary golf course in a priceless setting.”

The Ravenna golf course is nestled in the ravines of Waterton Canyon, straddling the Dakota Ridge Hogback.

“We’ve had an incredible amount of interest, and we’re looking forward to selling-out our charter memberships in the weeks ahead,” says Jacks. “With development construction under way, and strong interest in the golf course and our home sites, the Ravenna community is off to a very strong start. We’re looking forward to welcoming more members to this very special place.”

The par 71 layout rests on 150 acres of land, with plans that include the planting of more than 11,000 native shrubs and 600 trees. The 18 holes will form a necklace around the development that will boast 243 home sites with access to a 24-hour concierge service, cooking classes, on-line tee-time booking services, gourmet level dining, wine pairing programs, a gourmet country market named Gusto’s with an espresso bar, a private fishing facility, travel booking, dinner delivery, fitness center, swimming pool, clay tennis courts and countless other amenities and services.

The team working on the construction of the golf course includes superintendent John Hoofnagle (a graduate of Pennsylvania State University and former superintendent at the Valley Country Club), Dan Hudick (owner of Hudick Excavating and a Ravenna partner), and Jeff Homan.

“We’ve recruited some of the very finest golf course construction experts in the nation, and the Ravenna course deserves it,” commented Jacks. “We want to take things to an entirely different level, and make our members’ lives better, easier, richer and more fulfilling.”
