Rain Bird strengthens its commitment to water conservation

Rain Bird Corp. release of a four-part white paper that examines the depletion of the earth's supply of usable water and the recommended solution of efficient irrigation. The paper, "Irrigation for a Growing World," provides insight into the importance of practicing water conservation through efficient irrigation. The paper, available in downloadable form on www.rainbird.com, underscores the company's more than 70-year commitment of promoting water conservation.

 "It provides ways for all water users from residential consumers and government municipalities to farmers and groundskeepers of sports fields and golf courses -- to incorporate water efficient irrigation practices into their daily routines," said Stacy Sharkey, corporate brand marketing manager.

The white paper is presented in four chapters, beginning with an overview of the world's water crisis, followed by an examination of available options to address water scarcity. It describes the option of water conservation through efficient irrigation and stresses the importance of proper irrigation design, installation and maintenance in addition to the benefits reaped by using water efficient irrigation products. The paper concludes with focuses on incentives, education and awareness programs used by governments, water agencies and industry leaders to encourage water conservation at the local level.

"[The white paper] is the culmination of extensive research and input from experts in the fields of water and irrigation. The goal is to increase awareness of the need to use water more efficiently," Sharkey said.

The white paper is the most recent example of the company's history of on-going programs and initiatives designed to create greater awareness for water conservation. Rain Bird's commitment to environmental conservation is also seen in its conservation-focused school teaching curriculums and its sponsorships of several hands-on environmental learning centers at California State Polytechnic University in Pomona, Calif.

It is available in five alternate languages: Spanish, French, German, Italian and Portuguese.
