ProLink Solutions, a provider of GPS golf course management systems and digital out-of-home on-course advertising, announced it will appear as the Official Distance Measurement System of the fifth annual People vs. the Pros golf event, televised Dec. 23 on ESPN2.
Billed as “The Ultimate Pro-Am Championship” and contested at Cabo Real Golf Club in Los Cabos, Mexico, People vs. the Pros pits amateurs winners in two age divisions (18-49 and 50-plus) against PGA TOUR star Chris DiMarco and golf legend Tom Watson. The ESPN2 broadcast, from noon to 2 p.m. EST, will feature graphically rich hole depictions and precise ball-to-pin yardages provided by ProLink’s GPS system. ProLink also sponsors the event’s long drive competition.

In the televised finals matches of the 2007 People vs. the Pros – an official PGA TOUR Challenge event - an amateur from the 18-49 age bracket will take on DiMarco while Watson squares off against a 50-plus golfer. Each amateur receives his full allotment of handicap strokes in the competition. Past participants have included John Daly, Lee Trevino, Gary McCord, Ben Crenshaw, Retief Goosen and Justin Leonard. To date, the pros have edged the amateurs in five out of eight tightly contested matches, validating the concept and format.
