ProLink Solutions, a provider of global positioning satellite (GPS) golf-course management systems and digital out-of-home on-course advertising, announced that its GPS screens on golf carts now feature real-time, ticker-scrolling scores from around the sports world.
ProLink’s ProStar GPS system displays scrolling, up-to-the-minute sports results across the bottom of the 10.4-inch, high-resolution color monitors that are affixed to golf carts. This feature was added in response to heavy golfer demand at ProLink’s partner courses, and underscores the company’s commitment to enhanced guest experience. Results are delivered by STATS, the world’s leading provider of sports information, content and statistical analysis to media, including Yahoo!, DirecTV and Fox Sports. This feature will be sponsored by one of ProLink’s media partners.
Golfers can follow their favorite teams without having to forego an afternoon on the links and will seek ProLink-equipped courses during major sporting events, allowing them to catch all the action. The sports ticker will further speed play, as golfers track scores between holes and while riding to their shots, as opposed to calling friends or checking their cell phones for updates – a practice that angers playing partners and impedes the pace of play.
“We are pleased to offer this real-time score feature to golfers, a truly sports-loving audience who can now keep up with their favorite teams and key contests throughout their rounds,” said Lawrence D. Bain, c.e.o. of ProLink Solutions. “Sports fans know how important it is to stay up to date on all the big games. Golfers at ProLink courses will greatly appreciate this function.”
“ProLink continues to develop its GPS system to create an even better experience for the golfer while supplying our partner courses with the most technologically advanced programs on the market,” Bain said. “These updates will further distance ProLink-equipped courses from their competition through an increased and repetitive customer base.”
In 2006, ProLink introduced real-time, remote capabilities to its ProStar and GameStar units that set the industry standard for service and reliability. Earlier this year, ProLink acquired substantially all of the operating assets of ScoreCast, Inc., including the most widely used tournament scoring software in the golf industry, ScoreCast Golf Tournament Software. The new sports ticker will be available on the ProStar system as it is rolled out over the next few months.
