Private clubs feeling the pinch

The New York Times is the latest newspaper to weigh in on the golf industry's struggles during the economy.

Private clubs are going to great lengths to recruit new members, often lowering or delaying initiation feeds, and even raffling off memberships, The New York Times reported last week.

“There are definitely bargains out there,” Dana Garmany, the chairman and chief executive of Troon Golf, told the Times. “It’s just like buying a car or a house right now. You just have to have the guts to pull the trigger.”
