Pristine Bay to open 9 holes in Jan.

Pete, Perry Dye Design in the Western Caribbean is grasses with paspalum.

Pristine Bay Resort’s Black Pearl golf course will have nine holes open by the first of the year, and the full 18 open for play by residents, real estate prospects and visitors by early Spring 2010.

Pristine Bay and The Black Pearl are located on the tropical island of Roatan, long a favorite of scuba divers and an increasingly popular destination on Caribbean cruise itineraries. Grassed with the revolutionary paspalum turf, the back nine of the par-72, 7,179-yard layout is enjoying an excellent growing season and on schedule to offer immaculate playing conditions during the height of tourist season.

"After many months of hard work by the Dye Designs team, The Black Pearl is rapidly maturing and coming to fruition," Mario Toriello, vice president of sales and marketing for Pristine Bay Resort. "We anticipate all 18 holes will be open by Easter. The Black Pearl will feature 14 holes with Caribbean views and serve as the island's extraordinary introduction to world-class golf."
