The Powder Horn Golf Club, a
27-hole private club in Sheridan, Wy., will soon begin an extensive bunker
renovation project on its Stag and Eagle courses. The project is slated to
begin this fall and will be completed early in the 2019 golf season.
Tom
Schroeder, a partner of original golf course architect Dick Bailey, will
oversee the bunker renovation project and Phoenix-based Desert Reflections will
work with The Powder Horn Golf Club’s agronomy team to complete the
state-of-the-art Capillary Concrete liner system. As
part of the bunker renovation, bunkers will be
regraded, reshaped and rebuilt incorporating a technically advanced drainage
and liner system featuring Capillary Concrete. This new generation lining
method increases the speed at which water flows through the sand and the
lining; minimizing contamination, reducing maintenance, and producing superior
consistency. The new bunkers are expected to last for well over a
decade.
“Our owners are committed to making
The Powder Horn the premier golf experience in the West for our members and
their guests," said The Powder Horn Golf Club’s general manager Robert
Kearney. "Our staff takes pride in maintaining every aspect of the course
while preserving the natural beauty of the land. These upgrades will improve
the playability of the golf course and enhance Dick Bailey’s original
design."
